Per zone, not per building.
A large room has a warm end and a cold end, and both move as the room fills, empties and has its doors opened. A single reading at the entrance describes neither.
TempGuard is deployed per zone. Each probe goes where the temperature actually needs proving, wired back to a device outside the room, and each zone carries its own range, its own history and its own recipients. A chilled bay at 5 °C, a frozen store at -18 °C and a blast chiller running a cycle are three separate records on one dashboard.
Devices report over their own SIM rather than the site network, so a warehouse with poor coverage inside the rooms does not need cabling or access points run to each one.
Through the chilled band the sensor reads to within ±0.5 °C. The operating range runs from -55 °C to +125 °C, so frozen and blast applications are covered. If a customer or an authority holds you to a tighter measurement margin at deep-freeze temperatures, tell us the tolerance and we will scope the sensor for it.
Evidence per zone, for whoever asks.
In third-party storage the goods usually belong to somebody else, which means the record has two audiences: the authority that licenses the facility, and the customer whose stock is in it.
- Continuous readings per zone
- Each zone independently, around the clock, every reading timestamped by the server.
- All four channels
- A breach dispatches a phone call, WhatsApp, email and mobile push together, to the people named for that site.
- Escalation
- An alert nobody acknowledges within 60 minutes escalates, and the lack of a response is recorded alongside it.
- Excursions as their own records
- Duration and depth per event, so a claim about one consignment can be answered without reading a month of readings.
- Silence detected
- A device that stops reporting is flagged after 24 hours, so a gap in a zone's history is an event rather than an absence.
- Nothing can be rewritten
- A stored reading cannot be edited or deleted by any account, including ours. The database refuses the write.
- Scoped access
- Users see only the sites and zones assigned to them, which matters when several customers' goods sit in one building.
- Export per zone or per site
- Readings, excursions and the change log as CSV, plus a summary as PDF, for any date range.
Where it goes in practice.
- Multi-zone warehouses
- Chilled, frozen and ambient bays under one roof, each with its own setpoint and its own record.
- Blast chillers & freezers
- Fast pull-down cycles where the question is whether the product reached temperature in time, not just where it ended up.
- Holding & staging rooms
- Short-dwell spaces beside a loading door, which are the most exposed to ambient air and the least likely to be checked.
- Third-party logistics
- Facilities storing goods for customers who audit them. One dashboard covers the estate, with each customer's zones visible only to the people who should see them.
- Free zone facilities
- Sites whose licence and whose customers' expectations may not come from the same authority.
What is in the room decides what it has to hold.
A cold store is a building, not a sector. The same racking can hold food one week and pharmaceutical stock the next, and the two are held to different bands by different authorities.
Food
- Chilled
- At or below about 5 °C.
- Hot holding
- At or above about 60 °C, where a facility holds hot product. Some authorities set 63 °C.
- Frozen
- At or below -18 °C. Effectively universal.
Pharmaceutical and medical stock
- Refrigerated
- 2 °C to 8 °C, the international cold chain band.
- Controlled ambient
- Typically 15 °C to 25 °C, per the product label.
- The label decides
- Pharmaceutical setpoints come from what the product itself specifies rather than a single figure for the building.
Each zone carries its own range, its own history and its own recipients, so a chilled bay, a frozen store and a medicines room are three separate records on one dashboard. If your site holds both kinds of stock, you answer to both regimes, and one deployment produces the evidence for each.
What both regimes ask for
- A device per zone
- Measured where the cold actually is, not at a door. A large room has a warm end and a cold end, and both move as it fills and empties.
- Conditions monitored and recorded
- Continuously, per zone, for the whole period the stock was held.
- Records on demand
- Exported per zone or per site, for whatever range you are asked about. Retention horizons differ between regimes; your history stays available for the life of your subscription and exports at any point.
- Corrective action, attributed
- Who was alerted, who acknowledged, who resolved, and when.
- Devices calibrated and tracked
- A calibration date and expiry per device, reported as valid, expiring or expired.
- A record nobody can adjust
- A stored reading cannot be edited or deleted by any account, including ours.
The figures above are how cold storage is generally run. They are not a statement of what the law requires of you. Requirements differ by emirate, by country, by what you store and by the authority that licenses you, and they change. Stock outside these two regimes — chemicals, cosmetics, horticulture — will have requirements of its own that are not described here.
Your licensing authority, your customers' auditors and your own quality team decide what applies to your facility. If you need the specifics, ask them directly rather than relying on any vendor's website, including ours.
